New Traditions

We have started a new tradition, it started with two years in a row, now that we've gone three times in a row I guess that constitutes a tradition. Jon Schmidt, he's our new tradition. He does a Christmas performance every year and he is a lot of fun. After leaving one of his shows it always inspires you to go and practice the piano a little more. If you ever get a chance to go and see him, do it, you won't be disappointed.

Arizona Sunsets

We have been getting the best sunsets and sunrises lateley. I just thought I would share one from the other day. We also get our share of city wildlife, we get lots of rabbits and lots of birds in our neighborhood. We get lots of quail, the occasional woodpecker(who loves the plastic street light across the street), we've even had a few roadrunners, but the weirdest one I saw the other day was a crane flying near our house. I saw this big bird fly by and it was huge, then we realized it was a crane. I'm still holding out for a pink flamingo!

I'm Finished!!!!

I am officially done with school for the semester. Yea! I remember my third week in, thinking this is never going to end, but it did, amazing isn't it, how time just keeps on going :-) Anyway, I had my last two finals last night and I'm to the point I don't even care what grade I got (well, I say that now but I know I'll be anxiously awaiting my grades). So I learned a few things on the way. I had been out of school for 13 years and I have to admit I was nervous about going back. I learned I can kind of do hard things (see Holli and her Darn Poster). I can't b.s. my way through a paper as good as I used to, but give me time; and last but not least, I kind of liked going back to school. Now I get a month off, yea again, my kids are so jealous, but I plan to see this degree through this time so I will start back in the spring. Hopefully this time I won't be as nervous.

For my Utah friends and family, I was out shopping last night and I thought to myself, you know, I should have wore a jacket, it's a little nippy out. I don't know why I thought you guys might enjoy that little thought ! :-)

Thick Skin

I was at the Doctor's the other day and they had to take my blood. They needed 3 vials full. The first one came out really slow. The second one they just gave up on because I just wasn't going to give it to them (I guess to many vampire wannabes out there right now :-0 ) Anyway, they had to bring in the "one nurse" you know the one nobody wants. So she tries sticking this needle in a couple of times and it wasn't going in very good and she tells me, "You've got thick skin." "Thanks, I tell her, I've been telling my kids that for years." Of course that's why I tell them I'm a little on the thick side, it's not that I'm overweight its just all that thick skin. Now I can tell them it's been verified by a medical professional. Now don't start insulting me out there, it still hurt when she kept digging, but most of the time people can't get past my surface. (That's not a challenge Kellie)My brother Brian used to always say (maybe he still does) that's what the world needs, is thicker skin. So I'm doing my part, how about you?

So this is my arm 5 days later. The part where the bruising is, is where they couldn't get the blood, so this bruise was for nothing. There is a little spot clear at the top where the blood actually came from.
Too much information? okay, shutting up now!

Kisses From Heaven

Kaleb and I were talking about Christmas the other day and he said : I love Christmas, I get presents from my family and from Santa." I told him his grandma's get him something also. He said "And my Grandpas" I told him no his grandpas can't get him anything. He informed me, "Yes they do, they blow me a kiss every holiday!" Who am I to argue with that?

Tagged Again

So my friend Shannon tagged me. I get to share 7 random things about me. I hope I can come up with 7.

1.) I've been compiling a mental list lately of a thought that came to mind, I finish this sentence, "There's nothing better than _____" and you fill in the blank. Lately this pops into my head more times than I care to admit (makes me sound kind of mental doesn't it? Don't answer that)
Here are a few examples: There is nothing better than crawling into bed at the end of a long day! There is nothing better than cold water and ice cream sprinkled with saltines (my husband thinks it's weird too). There is nothing better than seeing your kids succeed at something. Now you try it.

2.) I have quite a few pet peeves that revolve around eating. I can't stand to hear anyone eat anything, especially something crunchy or slurpy. One morning we decided to all eat breakfast together before school, and we all were eating cereal, Aaauuuggghhh! I thought I would go crazy. We only did that once.

3.) Courtney's favorite preface to almost every conversation is, I know this is random, but,....

4.) I want to be more spontaneous. A few years back David was off for a few days because of rain (love construction) and it was the day before the girl's birthday. We woke up and said, let's go to Disneyland, and we did. A few hours later we were on the road with an itinerary and a reservation. We went to Sea World and Disneyland then came home. I wish we would do more things like that.

5.) Remember these are suppose to be random things, they're not suppose to have a rhyme or reason to them. I like my chill out time. That's the time of day everyone goes to bed, even David, and I get me time. Time to do whatever I want. That usually consists of the t.v. or the computer all to myself. This is my favorite time of day!

6.) I want to travel more. See the world. If anyone knows how to accomplish this goal of mine please let me know.

7.) I have a hard time sitting still. Church is a long three hours. I can be enjoying the lesson, but I get real fidgety that last 20-30 minutes of each meeting, especially Sunday School and Relief Society. Even with good teachers I always feel the need to get up and move, plus I don't like people sitting too close to me, I'm a bit claustrophobic.

There now you know 7 random things about me, now I am randomly going to tag anyone who reads my blog, because it probably isn't even 7 people. So if you read this consider yourself TAGGED (no cheating please).

I know, I know!

Yes I have three children, but this is another one about Kaleb. I'm sure my girls say cute things to, but being teenagers they are fewer and far between (I love you girls!) there, now they're happy I haven't neglected them.
So last night Courtney gave the family night lesson on the Holy Ghost where we played the game that somebody is blindfolded and the "Holy Ghost" leads them through an obstacle of backpacks and chairs and whatever else is on the floor. After the night was through and Kaleb got ready for bed, he came up and said,
"Mom, I love the Holy Ghost, so I hugged the air like this (hugging himself), because that's where the Holy Ghost is, in the air."
See, how could I pass that story up?
